Wake Coordinated Transportation Services TRACS– there is no age limit, a public van service, no registration or application is required, and trips must be scheduled within 24 hours. First-come-first-served seat-availability basis. You can set the time of pick-up on both ends so there would not be lots of waiting around. The trips can be arranged for any reason (doesn’t have to be a medical appt, etc) as long as it’s from outside of Raleigh to Raleigh. It’s either $2 or $4 per way.
The Center for Volunteer Caregiving also offers some limited transportation. They also offer friendly visiting, and telephone visiting.
