Dr. Claudia Testa
Dr. Claudia Testa holds several positions in the UNC College of Medicine. She is the Division Chief – Precision Medicine and Neurogenetics, also a Professor of Neurology – Movement disorders, Adult Neurogenetics and is the Founding Director – UNC Huntington Disease Program. Dr. Testa’s clinical and teaching roles at the UNC College of Medicine include clinical and translational research in movement disorders with a special interest in genetically based therapeutics, and neurogenetic neurodegenerative disorders. Dr. Testa’s top areas of expertise are Drug Induced Dyskinesia, Huntington Disease, Parkinson's Disease, and Chorea. Her clinical research consists of co-authoring 66 peer reviewed articles in the past 15 years. “It didn’t take me long as a physician-scientist to realize that patients are the best teachers. My job is connecting that clinical experience with research to make progress understanding and treating neurological disorders. This work is a team sport: the best progress happens when interdisciplinary academic teams have strong authentic ties to both the patient/family communities and our colleagues in and out of academia.”
