Compassionate Care for Calming Irritability Workshop
Compassionate Care for Calming Irritability
Addressing the Symptoms of Huntington's disease
Irritability is a common neuropsychiatric feature of HD and can precede the onset of physical symptoms. Changes in the brain of a person with HD can decrease the ability to regulate emotions and small frustrations can result in behaviors such as screaming, threatening, slamming doors, hitting walls or hurting others.
In-person workshops throughout the state will be provided on a quarterly basis to teach strategies that have been shown to reduce irritability in people with HD. You will receive behavior logs, a family safety plan, and educational materials. These workshops are designed for caregivers, family, and friends.
